Just as Patrick Berhault traversed the Alps from Slovenia to the shores of Menton, tying in with various partners along the way (Gabarrou, Edlinger, Fassini, Bouquet des Chaux, Aumage, Magnin), we, with NIVA, are building our own summits while learning to ‘scale the digital world’ (in every sense!).
NIVA was born from our deep passion for the vertical world and the activities that revolve around it.
That’s why we created a new space where people, united by their love for high-altitude landscapes, can connect, share their adventures, and learn.
Over time, NIVA has become much more than just an app: it’s a movement, a meeting place where the digital world helps bring our vertical dreams to life. Always roped together, always connected.
Our inspiration
In my opinion, the value of a mountain, and therefore of its climb, is made up of a combination of different yet equally important elements: aesthetics, history and ethics.

We are innovators, but we draw inspiration from the great alpinists and explorers of the past. NIVA aims to become the digital benchmark for a new way of experiencing the mountains – one that, to quote Bonatti, respects all their values: aesthetic, historical, and ethical.
Today, high-altitude landscapes are increasingly affected by over-tourism, partly due to the accessibility of information across digital channels. This has made these places more reachable, even for those who know little about the mountains and may not understand the fragility of these ecosystems.
Transforming information into knowledge and shared experience is what drives us every day to push NIVA forward. That’s why we are deeply committed to developing our community – because every member is a true rope partner to us.
I have always considered my rope partner, first and foremost, a sincere and trusted friend – someone capable of boldness, decisiveness, and a certain natural fear. I have always relied on being able to understand him even without words. And I cared little whether, in action, he turned out to be a perfect “record-breaker.”

Team
Mavi (Maria Vittoria Ceschi) and Nic (Nicola Maffeis) are our rope leaders and the heart of NIVA, supported by a strong tech team and various key collaborations.
We bring a wealth of experience, with backgrounds spanning entrepreneurial ventures and non–profit initiatives, combining expertise in project management, service design, branding, communication, and, of course, tech development. Over the years, we’ve also built a solid network within the outdoor and climbing industries.
But we are also climbers, and we scale (in every sense!) with passion, dedication, and a true rope-team spirit.
You’ll often find us on snowy slopes, hanging off a rock face, or crossing a glacier.
This deep connection with the mountains allows us to truly understand our users and customers, enabling us to design scalable products that genuinely meet their needs.
A little bit of history
NIVA was born from the merger of two existing projects: fjello and Climby. The two teams decided to join forces and work together for a more advanced, mature, and integrated product. The merger has been pursued because of the matching vision of the founders and the complementarity and fit of the two projects and teams, enhancing the chances for success.
Over time, we have been supported by: Vali Berlin, Startup Geeks, and I3P.
Ambassadors
NIVA ambassadors are athletes, professionals, influencers, and enthusiasts who share our vision and values. They are individuals who live every outdoor adventure with passion and dedication; they are role models for the community, inspiring and motivating their followers to explore new horizons and experience the outdoors in a more mindful and innovative way.
LORENZO D'ADDARIO
Lorenzo has been an IFMGA-certified mountain guide since 2014. Alpinism has always been his main calling, and to date, he has completed over 1,200 ascents across the entire Alpine range. He has led trips and expeditions all over the world.
For me, the mountain is an inner journey, it is knowledge, it is fantasy, it is well-being, it is company and solitude, it is joy and fatigue, it is teaching, it is nature, it is respect for the world and for those who live in it… the mountain is my being in this life.
ELENA ADONIDE
Elena is a keen climber, skier and outdoor enthusiast. Based in Genoa, it is not hard to find Elena exploring the beautiful cliffs of Finale Ligure.

FOP is present at NIVA to guide the community on the path to greater flexibility, strength and knowledge of breath and body through yoga classes and training programmes in climbing and running.

DEVELOPERS
We are looking for experienced developers (both front-end and back-end) with knowledge in: MySQL, Flutter, Dart, RESTful APIs, Git, and cloud services (AWS, Firebase, etc.).
